Growers News:

Calico Farms: We Welcome 2 fall flavors of scones – pumpkin spice & maple oat pecan. These are organic, dairy-free full-size scones sold in 3-packs and the flavors in both are amazing…trust me!

Returning this week is our organic tomato juice. Canned in quart jars & containing only vine-ripened organic tomatoes from Servant Farms in Watertown, pink Himalayan sea salt & citric acid. Delicious & naturally hydrating, try it as a beverage on the last hot days of summer or stock your pantry for cooking & soup/stew making season.

Fall flavors aren’t only about pumpkin, so we have our maple sea salt cookies back. Organic, dairy-free & bursting with maple flavor, these are sold in 6-packs and are made with whole wheat flour & coconut sugar as a healthy bonus! We also have cranberry oatmeal white chocolate chip cookies – they are just as tasty as they sound, too!

Rainbow Hill: Apples this week Fuji, Gala, Red Delicious, Rhode Island Greening and Yellow Delicious.

NashPhilly: We are excited to bring back for the soup of the week, French Onion Soup. Comes with French Baguette toast points, provolone cheese and Gruyère cheese so you can make your own delicious bowls of soup.

We just added another sauce this week, Bolognese. Beef cooked in red wine, carrots, celery, and onions and lots of garlic. And stewed in a marinara red sauce, basil and parsley. Creates a beautiful, rich and soul satisfying sauce. Add to your favorite type of pasta noodle or try it with rice. More sauces being added in the future.

Have you tried sous vide? Have you tried sous vide pork chops? Sous vide is the cooking process where a meat is vacuum sealed in a bag. Herbs and spices are usually added to enhance flavor at this point. Is gently and slowly cooked in a water bath with a hot water circulator over a period of at least a few hours for most recipes. The recipe creates a fully cooked meat, meat that cooks in its own fats and juices, never releasing any of its flavors; the results absolutely delicious. Try some of our sous vide pork chops. They are seasoned with lemon, and Italian herbs.

With the coolness of autumn coming in we will be eliminating some of our summer flavored dishes soon, to make room for Fall and winter. Yes we will be doing a Butter Nut Squash soup! For entree dishes we will be moving into the area of braises and stews and mashed potatoes. Chicken and Dumpling , yankee pot roast and beef bourguignon on the way!

Trinity Rose Micro Dairy: (Please return your jars, thank you!) We are enjoying making our milks and keifer for you but we are loosing money on jars and if we have to continue buying new jars we will have to charge jar deposit. Thank you very much for your consideration.

WildFlour: Recently new Grower to the Market….I’m a proud artisan baker, making sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, muffins and cookies. I pride myself on quality products made with care. Appreciate clean jars returned.

I proud also produce gluten free sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls- a rarity in the area!

Quarter Spring Farm: we have full freezers and we need your help emptying them out. We have dropped prices on a few of our pasture-raised chicken cuts like the bag of bones (great for stock) and the chicken livers (tons of iron, great for you). We will have all of our lamb cuts, and some goat meat available starting next week. As usual, we have our splendid selection of skin-softening soaps, shampoos, and lotions available.

Sadie Brooke Farm: Their Family Farm is located in Readyville, TN where we raise Black Angus Cattle and grow garden fresh Vegetables and fruits. Also have fresh Bacon, Ham and sausage. We have homemade canned goods and offer homemade baked goods such as custom cakes, cupcakes, pies, dipped strawberries and bread and Kombucha Beverages.

Safe and Sound Soap Co.:
Have you tried my hand soaps? They are ultra moisturizing with a rich lather! They make great gifts as well. If you’ve purchased them before then be sure and save the pump because I now have refill packs for them at a discounted price! Don’t forget about my new scented Laundry Soaps and Laundry Booster! I use high quality organic fragrance oils to scent these laundry soaps. They are Non-toxic, Phthalate and paraben free, and specifically formulated for those with sensitive skin. I also use these fragrances in my whipped sugar scrubs, so you can enjoy a luxury scrub without worrying about harsh fragrances or any chemicals. Thank you to all who have purchased my items in the past. Your support means so much!

Kumaika Coffee:
New SIZE available! If you have not started your morning with our Coffee, you are missing out! We have Dark, Medium and Light Roasted Beans. We are a Certified USDA Organic Product provider. We have a small coffee roaster business. We specialize in roasting and crafting small batches of organic, high altitude single origin and fair trade coffee beans. We bring the coffee beans directly from Nicaragua and roast small batches in our home located in Lascassas TN. We have Beans and/or Ground Coffee available or can’t decide order our Sampler of all 3. Side NOTE: Flying S Farms LOVES our Light Ground Roast! We begin our mornings with their delicious coffee everyday!

Periwinkle and Pine:

Have you seen the meme on Facebook regarding the weather in Georgia? Here is the gist:

Georgia’s 12 Seasons
Winter
Fool’s Spring
Second Winter
Spring of Deception
Third Winter
The Pollening
Actual Spring
Summer
Hell’s Front Porch
False Fall
Second Summer
Actual Fall

Where are we today? Considering that the weather is cool and misting rain, I’d say that we are in False Fall. I am so happy that we have cleared Hell’s Front Porch! We’ll get a touch of Second Summer this coming week. Surely Actual Fall is not too far away. Have you noticed that Pumpkin Spice flavored items are back in stores?

Thank you for supporting Georgia Grown. Have a great weekend, and we’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,
Beverly

VIP DELIVERY NOTE FOR OUR ENTERPRISE CUSTOMERS: Viki R. will be managing pickup for this order cycle and there will be NO Enterprise deliveries. We apologize for any inconvenience.

D’s Jellies: I am making D’s Hot Pepper Jelly almost daily now. I wait for all of my peppers (jalapeno,  cayenne,  sweet banana, & bell peppers) to turn red. This gives my jelly its red color. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Festival at Dothan Nurseries on Saturday, September 28. I will have samples for tasting! Dianne Herring

Katherine’s Kitchen:
“Eternal are thy mercies, Lord,
Eternal truth attends thy Word.”
Maybe when Isaac Watts penned this, he too was listening to the downfall of an especially needed rain!
In addition to the rain that has blessed us all this week, God blessed me with something new that will help double my bread availability. A new oven! With it I can now make up to four loaves available per pickup. And maybe experiment with something more. . . .
“Why only four,” you ask? “Why not more, can’t you do more batches?” Well, you see, I’m not going to be one of those cheater bakers who sells you bread that’s already a day old. It has to be baked within 12 hours of pickup to ensure that you get fresh bread, truly fresh. And that usually means the ovens are firing up at 4am on Friday morning. If your bread’s not fresh, is it really worth your money?
Thanks to everyone who has bought one or even two loaves in the past. I am always honored when I run out!
~Katherine’s Kitchen

Mt. Moriah Farms:

We are so very thankful for the rain over the last couple of days! We have gone from milking 14 does to 4. The reason being, they are getting ready to kid out in November! We did have a doe kid out two weeks ago and the picture below is of her kids.

They are absolutely beautiful in our opinion. Both are boys, with the names of Milky Way & Snickers. We are working on a fall line of fragrances for soaps & scrubs so stay tuned!  This week’s featured soap is Oatmeal, Milk & Honey… Oatmeal & Honey Goat Milk Soap is packed with rich moisturizers, vitamins, and minerals your skin craves. Sweet notes of honey mix with natural grains of oats to complete this extra gentle exfoliating bar.
Oatmeal & Honey Goat Milk Soap helps defend  against dry skin and irritation with natural ingredients. An essential treat for everyday use, cleanse, moisturize and feel the difference in your skin for yourself!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m. in Clayton, Clarkesville, or Gainesville.

If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION after you finish the checkout process, then your order is NOT complete. Head back to the market page, and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.

Once you place an order, be on the lookout for the order reminder email on Wednesday with further pickup and payment notes.
